Inside Pix-Star you have 2 kind of pictures stored in 2 different locations (menu):

1- The “My Local Album” menu stores pictures coming by email and those that you copied from a SD card or a USB and that you stored inside the frame.

They can easily be deleted from the “File Manager” or when the slide show is playing by using the MENU button which displays a “menu bar” on the left side of the screen, inside you have a delete button.

2- The “My Web Albums” menu stores pictures coming from Web Album (including Pix-Star web albums and RSS web albums) that you configured inside the www.pix-star.com web site. In this case, it is NOT possible to delete these pictures from the frame’s user interface, it can only be deleted opening the www.pix-star.com web site.

This is because these pictures they are FULLY controlled by the web site, the frame cannot do any action on these albums except synchronizing their content with the web site and playing slide shows.

Once the picture (or the whole album) has been deleted on the web site, you need to wait a few minutes before this change can apply on the frame. ALSO BE SURE that your Pix-Star is CONNECTED to the network and that it can access the server. If the frame is OFFLINE it will not update its content according to the changes made on the server!!

This should help you to better manage the content of your Pix-Star!

Solution 1: an interface (also called “API”) that gives access to the list of albums and the pictures that are inside, of course this is done after authentication. That is typically what you do with Pix-Star when you want to access pictures inside for example Picasa or FlickR;

Solution 2: a RSS feed, this is a more basic solution to display pictures stored online on your Pix-Star, but it makes the job too ! Some web album that do not provide an interface (the “API”) do usually provide a RSS link that is used to share your pictures with your friend. Pix-Star can “read” these RSS and display the pictures that are inside directly on its screen.

In the case of Kodak Gallery and Snapfish, unfortunately these 2 providers do not provide an open solution for a third party like Pix-Star to access their content. This is then totally impossible for Pix-Star to display the photos that you stored there.

This may change in the future and we will continuously monitor the situation. As soon as something is made available we will be the first to make it work with Pix-Star !

By default, your Pix-Star is in a mode which displays a small logo on top of the screen, the “envelope” logo, each time a pictures snet by email arrives on the frame. When you press the open mailbox button on the remote control, Pix-Star will show you one by one the Photomails received, with the sender, the date & time and the subject shown at the bottom. You can then choose to either keep the picture or delete it right away.

By going to the “settings” menu you can choose inside the “system” sub-menu between 2 other modes.

The second mode is called “Automatically & notify” which means that in this mode Pix-Star will automatically add the incoming Photomails to your default slide show without the need for you to open the mailbox. This is done WITH a sound notification (a sound is played when a picture arrives).

The third  mode is called “Automatically” which means that in this mode Pix-Star will automatically add the incoming Photomails to your default slide show without the need for you to open the mailbox. This is done WITHOUT any notification (no sound, no message on the frame).

These last 2 modes are quite convenient for people that want to keep things simple. Nothing to do, no need to touch anything on the frame!

This is particularly adapted for people that are not computer-savvy.

Just log on to your Pix-Star web management section and choose the “framechannel” link on the LEFT menu, then follow the indications step by step to configure your Pix-Star with your framechannel account.

We have also improved some elements of the visibility and usage inside the personal frame management section.

For the moment only albums with the property set to “public” can be accessed.

Just go to your user area inside www.pix-star.com and choose “External album” then select on the left list “windows live” then enter the URL of your public Windows Live album that you can copy from the Windows Live web site.
