To access pictures stored inside third-party Web Albums such as those from Picasa, Smugmug, FlickR, Facebook, etc., Pix-Star needs one of the following solutions:
Solution 1: an interface (also called “API”) that gives access to the list of albums and the pictures they contain. Of course, this is done after authentication. This solution is typically used to allow Pix-Star to access pictures stored on Picasa or FlickR, for example;
Solution 2: an RSS feed. This is a more basic solution to display pictures stored online on your Pix-Star, but it also works! Some web albums that do not provide an interface (“API”) usually provide an RSS link that is used to share your pictures with your friends. Pix-Star can “read” these RSS feeds and display the pictures directly on its screen.
Unfortunately, Kodak Gallery and Snapfish do not provide an open solution for a third party like Pix-Star to access their content. It is therefore impossible for Pix-Star to display the photos that are stored with these providers.
This may change in the future and we will continuously monitor the situation. As soon as a solution is made available, we will be the first to make it work with Pix-Star!
